Critical aspects for optimal outcomes in juvenile arthritis – an international symposium celebrating a pioneer of pediatric rheumatology in Switzerland

Pediatric Rheumatology is one of the most recent disciplines within pediatrics, that evolved as a clearly defined subspecialty – in Switzerland in the year 2010. Some of those who provided care for children affected by rheumatic conditions long before the year 2010 have also shaped this discipline through education and research. The most successful research, directly benefitting the patients and their families, has been completed through collaborations with other eminent researchers.

It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to join us in celebrating one of the pioneers of pediatric rheumatology in Switzerland – Professor  Traudel Saurenmann – and the power of collaborative research she fostered.

Important aspects of that research and how it influences clinical care will be presented demonstrating the state of the art of pediatric rheumatology at the end of the first quarter of the 21st century.
